A digital inclinometer is a device that can measure the spinal movement. The reference is a normal reading and the comparations is made with the spinal movement of the subject. The abnormal movement of the spine appears when the vertebrae position is not correct because muscles and the nervous systems are disturbed. As long as the movement is restricted the degeneration will increase and the irritation will be more and more present.
The Double Inclinometer lumbar spine Flexion Technique
For this technique there were used 2 inclinometers placed on two predefined marks. First marker is the mid-line of the spine and second is located 15cm up the PSIS line. The subject has to bend forward after the inclinometers were positioned. After the subject bends the angles are measured. Each angle represents separate things ; the upper angle represents the flexio motion and the lower measurement indicates the hip flexion. The marks are removed with alcohol. the lower inclinometer reading from the upper inclinometer reading. The skin marks were removed with rubbing alcohol.
The dual Inclinometer Extension Technique
The measuring and position process is the same presented above. The main difference between the two techniques is the position of the body.
